BRFC RUGBY

WEARING THE COLOURS

Success on the field Saturday is determined by the way we train during the week and present ourselves leading up to the first whistle. Below is information about our training sessions and guidelines on team selection and match day preperation.

Training

During the season, training is held every Wednesday evening. Each session starts promptly at 6:30 so please arrive at quarter past so you can get kitted out and ready to begin on time. Each session consists of cardio work and handling drills, before we seperate into forwards and backs for more technical work. The equipment we have is first rate, from tackling bags to ruck shields. If you cannot make either session, please ring the club mobile (07725 170 508) to let us know.

Team selection

Team selection plays an important part in our aim to grow as a club. Players will be selected on ability, demonstrated at training, and teamwork. We aim to play our strongest possible team. Coaches are always ready to listen to constructive ideas, however, any team member who feels aggrieved at the selection process should discuss this with their team representative. He will then consult with the commitee and report back on their decision.

Match day

Players picked for the team are expected to turn up two hours before kick off for home and three hours for away games at the designated meeting point. This way we can organise ourselves and, for away games, set off early. This will prevent us turning up late for games which often angers the ref and could lead to points being taken from us. For away games, if it is easier for you to go straight to the ground, a team representative must be informed before the saturday morning. It is expected that all players will dress smartly for games. If we start the day looking like a team, we will feel like a team and take this on into the game.
